Those drops between each terrace were about 5-6 feet each. They had protruding stones in the terrace walls to act as steps. At 11,500 feet, it was a tiring walk. Hard to believe that centuries ago this was an active agricultural site.

so it served as a stadium .. right ? for sacrifices ? interesting indeed !

It's thought that thee primary purpose was for growing food on each terrace level. They think it was like an experimental agricultural site because of the microclimate created in the depressions It was like 20-30 degrees F warmer down there than at the ridge where I shot this image.

Lots of people go there to meditate down in that bottom circle...some kind of spiritual connection.
